Password
If you use a local account in Windows 10, you should create a password reset disk with a USB flash drive as soon as possible.
If you forget your password, you can reset it.
If you wait until you’ve forgotten your password, it will be too late.
If you’re using Windows 10, version 1803, you can add security questions to your local account.
If you forget your password, so you don’t need to create a password reset disk.
To do this, select the Start button > Settings > Login options > Update security questions.
Make sure you are logging in with your local account.
This option does not work with Microsoft (connected) arrangements.
Connect a USB flash drive to your PC.
Although creating a password disk will not reformat the USB flash drive, you should back up your data before proceeding.
In the search box on the taskbar, type creates a password disk and then choose to create a password reset disk from the list of results.
In the forgotten password wizard, select Next. Choose your USB flash drive and choose Next.
Enter your current password and select Next.
When the wizard finishes, select Finish.
Remove the USB flash drive and keep it in a safe place that you can remember.
Note that you don’t have to create a new disk when changing the password, even if you change it multiple times.
How to Use a password reset disk?
If you forget your password for Windows and have previously created a password reset disk, you can use it to create a new password.

If you have a password disk, follow the steps below
- On the Windows start screen, click Reset Password.
- Insert the disk to reset the password.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to create a new password.
- Use the new password to log into your account.

If you have forgotten or lost your password and you do not have a password reset disk available.

How to Create a Password Reset Disk?
- Paste your USB flash drive into the computer and then right-click on the flash drive and click format.
- Click the Control Panel button on the Start menu and then select the User Accounts tab.
- You will find the Create a password reset disk link there.
- Follow the instructions in the Forgot Password Wizard.
- Select Next and choose your USB flash drive from the drop-down menu.
- Ensure it is a new drive because it will erase all information if you are using an existing one.
- Click Next to begin the process.
- Once you are complete, click Next again to finish the procedure.
- Your disk is ready. Now let me explain how you can use it.
- When you enter the wrong password from the login screen, the Reset Password option will appear
- Click the Reset password option.
- Insert the password reset USB flash drive if you haven’t already done so and select it from the drop-down menu.
- Press Next, and it will ask you to enter the new password and confirm it.
- Once you have confirmed the password, press Next and Finish.
- After pressing Finish, enter your new password and log in.
